Occupy Spokane turns one, celebrates with peaceful downtown protest

On Saturday — the first anniversary of the Occupy Movement — about 200 people marched through downtown Spokane, waving signs, chanting and reminding corporate America that Occupiers haven’t given up on their fight for justice.

“What’s the point of all this?” asked Wayne Spitzer, of Occupy Spokane, “The thing is, the authorities are watching us … because we’ve showed them that another world is possible, and it scares the piss out of them, frankly.”

Everyone seems to have heard of Rabbi Tamar Malino.

For nearly two years she’s been the director of Spokane Area Jewish Family Services, assisting Spokane’s senior Jewish community and anyone else who walks through her door needing assistance.

U.S. News & World Report released its annual college rankings this week, rating Gonzaga University as the fourth best Regional University in the West and the third best value in the West, according to a news release.

Gonzaga ranks No. 2 in the West for both its average freshmen retention rate and average graduation rate.
