Ask A Mormon: Can you be baptized after death?

Mormons believe that “God is no respecter of persons” (Acts 10:34). He loves all of his children, regardless of when or where they were born. We also believe that baptism, and the covenants we make at baptism, are stepping stones on the path to salvation and exaltation.

Yes, teach everything, always and forever, amen! Knowledge is a good thing, censorship is beneath us as a society. I used to think people only needed to learn what I thought was important, and I was proved wrong again and again! I learned to open my mind! We cannot contain knowledge or should we want to. Put everything out there, teach it competently, let students know all the options and variety of things out there in this great big wonderful world God has given us. Trust yourselves to set the example for your children, using values you have learned, and then let them learn and develop their own values. They will do fine without any censorship on our part.

Now, obviously we watch the content our children look at based upon their age, and would hope things taught in school are age appropriate. But I believe evolution should be taught, I learned it and because of a gracious and wise pastor I learned it right along with my creation stories and he helped me make the connection.

Science and the bible are NOT mutually exclusive in my mind. God does things in lots of ways and he is still creating; if we become so closed minded that we cannot see possibilities beyond our limits then we lose. If we try to force those limitations on others, we will perpetuate close mindedness and our society will suffer. We see the results of this all the time and it is usually bad. Give our students (that's all of us by the way) the tools to learn and discover and make decisions using their God given talents and knowledge and trust God to provide the way. We may learn to be more open minded along the way and give up on our judgments of others as well.
