In 1997 Cal Pierce said he heard God call him to Spokane.

That’s when he and his wife, Michelle, left their home in Redding, Calif. and came here to open Healing Rooms Ministries.

Paul Vielle was raised Catholic, by a Catholic family who assumed he was going to become a Catholic priest. Vielle joined the military and upon his return, he left his Catholic faith and found Buddhism.

“I just couldn’t buy it anymore,” Vielle said.

The congregation of Unity Church Spokane will soon celebrate its 100th anniversary.

“This congregation, although it hasn’t been Unity the whole time … has been here since 1913,” said the Rev. Clare Austen.

Spokane’s First Presbyterian Church was formed over 125 years ago and has grown into a large, unified congregation.
It’s located downtown just north of I-90.

Far north, near the fields of Green Bluff, sits a church with nearly 500 members.

“We’re a little bit hidden,” said Glenn Teal, the pastor of Timberview Christian Fellowship.
