Did you ever consider that “gratitude” and “grace” come from the same root word? Gratia in Latin and Kharis in Greek.

Each day between now and including Thanksgiving Day, be very conscious of the little things for which you are thankful – in your home, at work, with friends, even with strangers.

What we say and how we say it matters. Torah teaches us that G-d spoke the world into existence. The world was created through words. The rabbis teach us to guard our tongue from lashon hara (evil speech).

I show gratefulness by (first and foremost) telling people thank you, sometimes writing a note or dropping off some small thing I know they will like.

This time of the year, I often sit in a place of deep gratitude. Gratitude for life itself, for the opportunity to be present one more day, and for all the gifts that have been bestowed upon me. I work at taking each moment and savoring it, for I don’t know how long I’ll be here to enjoy this thing we call life.
