Franklin Graham: “We have turned our backs on God”

In an exclusive interview with Newsmax TV last week, Rev. Franklin Graham, son of evangelist Billy Graham, said the country is in the economic shape it is in because, "we have turned our backs on God."

“The more we turn our backs on God, the bigger our problem becomes,” he said.

Bishops and American nuns hold ‘cordial and open’ meeting

Three Catholic bishops met with leaders of the American nuns' group they are tasked with overhauling in an "open and cordial'' meeting on Sunday (Nov. 11), according to a joint statement.

Archbishop Peter Sartain of Seattle led the bishops' discussion with four officials from the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, including its new president, Sister Florence Deacon.

Presiding Episcopal bishop to visit Spokane

Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, Katharine Jefferts Schori, will be celebrate the second Sunday of Advent at The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist on Dec. 9.

She will preach and celebrate the 10:30 a.m. Eucharist after leading the 9:15 a.m. Sunday seminar.

BRIEF: Humanist leader to speak at Spokane banquet

The Humanist Focus Group of Spokane will hear from the president of the American Humanist Association, David Niose, at its upcoming banquet.

Niose, an attorney and author of "Nonbeliever Nation," has advocated for church/state separation and the rights of humanists and other nontheists, according to a press release.
