Meditating together brings deeper awareness

As I began my seat in meditation today I was very connected with the sound and texture of my breath. It was an easy transition as I had just completed sunrise salutations. But then I remembered I was not meditating alone.

Looking in the middle of life

My son is a toddler, as Jesus was once a toddler. He is on the cusp of being a little boy, just as Jesus once was at the cusp of being a little boy. Each time I am with my son, I am aware he makes me come into an encounter with the holy, into contact with Jesus and the divine.

God and game theory, part 2

In the last post, I argued, or at least implicitly suggested, that given a Christian conception of God, we would not expect to exist in a physical world — i.e. one of a different substantive class than God, which is governed (for all we can tell) exclusively by natural laws and where we have little to no direct experience of the divine.

In my last post, I argued that the Bible is often been misread and misunderstood. Many people have dismissed it without really understanding it, and many others have embraced it as something that it is not.

The church can’t forget about compassion

To me, the church exists because we are all sinners. No one — no matter how dramatic their frocks, how imprinted Scripture is on their mind, or how tall their hat is — is worthy of judging others.

Does God view a certain race as his holy people?

In Isaiah 61:9 it states, "Their race will be famous throughout the nations and their offspring throughout the peoples. All who see them will admit that they are a race whom YHWH has blessed."
