Spokane’s Religion Wrap-Up: Spokane Baha’is, School Supply Drive and Christian Counseling

Last weekend Spokane Faith & Values had a booth at Unity in the Community and I got to meet several new readers. Someone asked me if Spokane has a Baha’i community. I explained to him that there is actually a pretty active Baha’i community here. If you’ve been wondering the same thing: just check out their website to see blog posts and a list of upcoming activities. And thanks, Spokane Baha’is, for being one of our loyal advertisers!

Did you got to Awana’s when you were a kid? Well if you want your kiddo to go, tomorrow is Awana registration and meet n’ greet over at Airway Heights Baptist Church. It starts at 8 a.m. and includes free pancakes!

If you missed it over the weekend, the Buddhist Temple of Spokane hosted a Obon Festival for the first time in 20 years. This is a traditional festival honoring ancestors. We were there and got some great pics.

School starts pretty soon and Faith Bible Church is having a school supply drive through this weekend. All supplies will go to students at Willard Elementary School. Items most needed include erasers, glue sticks, tissues and backpacks.

Looking for Christian counseling? Valley Bible Church is home to Bridge Ministries which provides pre-marital counseling and offers help with depression, eating disorders, anger and lots more.

On Sunday yours truly will be the guest speaker at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Spokane. I’ll be speaking at both services, 9:15 and 11, a.m., about Spokane’s faith scene. I hope to see you there!
