By Christi Ortiz

Trees are visible symbols

of fierce hope.

No matter the season,

no matter the conditions,

their limbs reach upward

in unwavering anticipation.

Even with bare limbs

and covered in frost

they refuse to let down

their stance of praise

Barren, they reach upward

in expectant faith

never slouching in despair.

They are sentinels of Spring

faithful reminders that

“this too shall pass.”
