Ronnie A. Simmons

Ronnie A. Simmons, 58, died Dec. 4 in Marshall, Texas after a long battle with COPD.

Simmons was born August 21, 1954, in Marshall, to Arthur Adrian and Jessie Mae Williams Simmons. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War. He was a major sports fan, his favorites being the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing with his grandkids and poking around on Facebook.

Surviving Simmons are his daughters, Lissa Busbey and husband, Jeffrey, of Elysian Fields, Tracy Simmons of Spokane, Wash., and Elena Cheshire and husband, Chase, of Albuquerque, N.M.; grandchildren, Kayetlyn and Logan Busbey and Aiden, Aila and Addison Cheshire; sisters, Deanna McClure and husband, Kenneth, and Sallie Simmons O'Bryan, all of Snyder, Texas, Sharon Stolz and husband, Rick, and Debbie Simmons Kelley, all of Longview; brothers, Joe Simmons of Marshall and Dennis Chambers of Houston; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

His funeral is today, Dec. 7, in East Texas.
