By Christi Ortiz

My soul, a capacity for God

Like a cup made for Water

so my soul is made for you, oh God

Come and dwell in me

Pour yourself into me

I have made space for you

I offer you my hollowness.

Experiencing sadness is an invitation to remember love

This summer – while on vacation and feeling vaguely sad – I read a marvelous essay by the contemporary writer Leslie Jamison.
