Recently I wrote a Facebook post expressing the struggle of a trans woman trying to cope with family members that subscribe to a traditional interpretation of the Bible.

The group Spokane Faith and Values is trying to promote a constructive dialogue on polarizing issues such as religion. The organization will conduct the next in its series of “coffee talks” on Saturday morning.

So why is it so hard to agree to disagree agreeably? And how can we make this process easier for ourselves to produce a kindness toward others with whom our opinions differ?

From a Jewish perspective, agreeing to disagree is nothing new.

So, how do pro-choice Christians understand personhood differently than pro-life Christians who advocate that the fetus’ personhood begins at conception or when the egg is fertilized by the sperm?
