The YMCA of the Inland Northwest will join Welcoming America, other YMCAs and organizations nationwide to celebrate immigrants’ contributions to communities during Welcoming Week from Sept. 8-17.

Apparently there are many people who identify themselves as Christians who are very okay with violence being an option when they don’t get their way. I’m gobsmacked — but not shocked anymore.

This post is about Washington State Christians making national headlines, YWCA of Spokane launching an online Racial Justice Challenge and the opening of a Spokane middle school named after local Holocaust survivor, Carla Olman Peperzak.

I hate waiting. I have never been good at it. I prefer to plan, organize, implement and get to work. I prefer structured time frames planned well in advance. So I will admit this is a difficult time for me.

At least 55 Episcopal bishops signed a letter saying they are ‘angered by and deeply concerned about the perception — or the reality — that bishops get a free pass on behavioral issues.’

Driving in late August from Spokane to our Heyburn State Park cabin in Plummer, then down to Moscow, I was struck once again by the incredible beauty of the Inland Northwest during harvest-time.
