I don’t think he has directly affected my perception of the Catholic Church per se, but it certainly has improved my perceptions of the office of pope. But I guess the Catholic Church chose him, so it suggests they wanted his perspective, or they didn’t know any better. I prefer to think they chose someone who is real and relatable but who still values the role of the Church.
