HEMP FLOWER FOR YOUR ANXIETY: ETHICAL CONCERNS

Sponsored Content

Over recent years, many people have noticed the influx of hemp-related products such as hemp flowers and oils, etc. onto the market. This influx began from the moment the 2018 Farm Bill was passed. The Farm Bill placed hemp-related products in the same category as other agricultural produce. This effectively legalized its sale, procurement, and possession as long as the THC concentration does not exceed 03%.

Nowadays, there are many health benefits associated with the use of hemp flowers and one of them is using them for anxiety.

In this post, we will take a quick look at the ethical concerns about the use of hemp flowers for anxiety.

A QUICK LOOK INTO THE CONCEPT OF HEMP FLOWERS

The hemp plant (also referred to as the cannabis sativa) plant contains over 500 natural components, including about 100 cannabinoids that interact with the CB receptors in our brains. This interaction causes the release of neurotransmitters, hence making it efficient in treating several health issues —meaning using hemp flower for anxiety may work well.

The two most common cannabinoids that can be derived from the hemp plant are tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) or hemp. Although both cannabinoids are manufactured from the same plant, the former is a psychoactive substance while the latter is not. Hence making hemp-related products a more suitable option for the treatment of many health issues — especially using hemp flower for anxiety. CBD or hemp must contain less than 0.3%volume of THC to be legal in most states in the US.

ETHICAL CONCERNS ABOUT THE USE OF HEMP FLOWER FOR ANXIETY

There are several reasons for the ever-increasing popularity of hemp flowers today. However, the most significant one is that users don’t need to be afraid of experiencing a euphoric feeling after using the product. This implies that anyone can use hemp flower for anxiety and other health issues without experiencing the “high feeling” that is associated with the use of THC.

However, there are two major reasons why many people remain concerned about the ethicality of the use of hemp flowers for anxiety and other health issues, and here are a few of them:

THE QUALITY OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH ON THE SUBJECT:  Despite passing the Farm Bill in 2018, there’s still little or no funding from the government to encourage further research about the CBD. As a result, we know very little about the long-term effects that ingesting hemp flower has on the body. Hence, the reason why some people remain concerned about the use of hemp flower for anxiety and other health issues.

COMMON MISCONCEPTION ABOUT THE PRODUCT: Before the 2018 Farm Bill, we experienced constant changes regarding the regulations surrounding hemp-related products such as hemp flowers. This was as a result of the common misconception that hemp has the same psychotic effects as its cousin, marijuana. Some people still have this misconception today. However, this is far from the truth. Hemp-related products contain a very low concentration of THC. Hence, they are in no way psychoactive by nature.

CONCLUSION

Despite the misconceptions about hemp, it continues to gain popularity in the market because of its many medicinal benefits, which include using hemp flowers for anxiety.
