Forgiveness, a poem

Oh, the refreshing power of forgiveness
as I feel the rains of mercy upon my face
its cleansing beauty sinks deep within

The tears of repentance mix with
the waters of new life
Reconciliation, peace, and healing are born

The boundaries between you and I
and I and God
are no more

Rain down upon our thirsty ground
Oh waters of mercy
cleanse our hungry land

To receive you melts the soul
and sinks deep down into
the vulnerability of every cell

Humbly we accept your gift
with praise and gratitude,
renewed, born again, transformed.
