By Ernesto Tinajero

I am restless today, maybe needing play. I left work long before I signed off. The sun is shining in a too warm October. Autumn presents itself in yellows, oranges and in Christ himself. I feel the need to sing and dance and laugh and being with Holy Trinity in the present. The gifts flow. I want to express joy. My son returns from school happy. I am in a great marriage. I finding my voice in my writing. I am in a great place in my life.

The bus I ride is empty but for a few souls heading toward the weekend. Talk pops up about life, weeds, flowers and rain. A young woman chats loudly on her cell phone. She seems disposed toward anger, but in the great sun of a warm day, even her temperament arises joyously in love. The roads are filled and the cars, trucks and SUVs speed to the days end. The sun will leave earlier tonight, the reward of the coming winter. The day that the Lord made is ending after I received it with all gratitude.
