During the film selection process for Spokane Jewish Cultural Film Festival 2021, we received one piece of feedback more than any other: Choose movies that convey a sense of hope.

If you view all nine films – seven features and two shorts – you’ll hear English, Hebrew, German, Norwegian, and Hungarian. You’ll see stories about Israel/Palestine, Israeli culture and society, social justice, politics, Jewish identity, the power of art, and the Holocaust. You’ll watch documentaries about our present moment and the recent past as well as narrative films about World War II and its aftermath, Israeli political turmoil in the mid-1990s, and the tension between Israelis and Palestinians that continues to this day.
