Immaculate Heart Retreat Center will be offering an Icon-Writing Retreat / Workshop led by artist and iconographer, Fr. Damian Higgins.

Father Damian, Abbot of the Byzantine Holy Transfiguration Monastery, invites anyone (experienced and non-experienced) to participate in a week-long traditional Icon painting workshop/retreat. Each participant will have the opportunity to complete an icon on site in egg tempera that will be blessed at the end of the retreat. All supplies and materials will be provided by the instructor. Father will guide retreaters through this artistic prayer process.

“The importance is in the process,” says Higgins, “we are careful how we use materials, that are also all-natural and organic. This brings closeness to the earth and respect for all things of the earth as well as to the sanctified person whose image we are creating.”

Please wear comfortable clothing to this retreat. The cost of all materials is included. No prior art experience is needed, however space is limited.
$100 deposit for materials is required in advance. The retreat is $600 for five full days (includes materials), meals and overnights stay.

Please register in advance by calling (509) 448-1224 or by visiting their website.
