Come to the annual HOONKO Buddhist Service, with very special guest Reverend Tatsuya Aoki, Bishop, Jodo Shinshu Buddhist Temples of Canada, at 10:30 am. The service commemorates the death of the founder of Shin Buddhism, Shinran Shonin. This holiday is among the most important holidays observed in the Jodo Shinshu tradition. In the word hōonkō; ‘hōon’ means “return of gratitude” and ‘ko’ means “to clarify the meaning of” or “gathering”.
