On Tuesday evening the Spokane community is invited to a vigil at Temple Beth Shalom to honor those killed Saturday at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh.

The shooting, which killed 11 people, is believed to be the deadliest attack on the Jewish community in U.S. history.

“We will not let fear and anti-Semitism keep us from living full and meaningful Jewish lives. We cannot ignore the current climate of increased hatred and bigotry and will continue to stand up to hatred, bigotry and racism wherever we see it,” members of TBS and Congregation Emanu-El said in a statement. “We ask our broader Spokane community and its leaders to stand with us. We urge our fellow Americans to condemn bigotry and hate without hesitation.”

The community vigil will be at 5:30 p.m. at TBS, 1322 E 30th Ave.
