On June 16 Sravasti Abbey, the Buddhist monastery outside of Newport, will host an open house for visitors to tour the property and meet abbey residents.
The abbey's five ordained nuns, including Venerable Thubten Chodron, founder of the abbey, will be available to visit with guests during the event. Refreshments will be provided and there will be continuous showings of a new short video about the monastery.
Guests are invited to drop in any time to catch parts of the day's program:
1 p.m. Arrival & tea
1:30-1:45 p.m. Welcome by Ven. Chodron
1:50 p.m. Tour of the Abbey facilities
2:30-2:50 p.m. Chanting
3 p.m. Tour of the Abbey
3:30-4 p.m Meditation instruction
