The event was created six decades ago to, “mobilize prayer in America and to encourage personal repentance and righteousness in the culture,” according to the National Day of Prayer Task Force website.
Life Center Foursquare Church will honor the day by hosting a prayer event on May at noon. This year's theme, One Nation Under God, is based on Psalm 33:12: “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,” according to Positive Life Radio. It will be held in the church's multipurpose room.
