BRIEF: Bishop to celebrate Mass for new pope

Newly elected Pope Francis appears on the central balcony of St. Peter?s Basilica on Wednesday (March 13) in Vatican City. Argentinian Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio was elected as the 266th Pontiff and will lead the world?s 1.2 billion Catholics.
Newly elected Pope Francis appears on the central balcony of St. Peter?s Basilica on Wednesday (March 13) in Vatican City. Argentinian Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio was elected as the 266th Pontiff and will lead the world?s 1.2 billion Catholics.

At noon on Thursday Bishop Blase Cupich of the Catholic Diocese of Spokane will celebrate Mass to pray for Pope Francis, the newly elected pontiff, as well as for the Catholic Church.

The service will be held at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes, 1115 W Riverside Ave.
