Immaculate Heart Retreat Center will offer “Barbecue with Bishop Emeritus Skylstad” on Aug. 25. The theme is “The Family in the Modern World: the Challenges and the Opportunities.”
The barbecue will begin at 5 p.m. with Mass and continue until 8 p.m.
Skylstad is the bishop emeritus of the Diocese of Spokane, and the Former Bishop of Yakima and received his education at the Pontifical College Josephinum & Washington State University.

She also writes for The Spokesman-Review and national publications. She is a Scholarly Assistant Professor of Journalism at Washington State University.
