On Sept. 17, approximately 1,000 Whitworth students, faculty and staff will lend a hand to nonprofit organizations across Spokane in efforts to help strengthen the community, according to a press release.
Community Building Day is an annual Whitworth event that began in 1907 as a student-led campus-beautification endeavor called Campus Day.
On July 1st, the YMCA welcomed the Act Six Program to the Y. Act Six is a leadership and scholarship initiative providing full-tuition, full-need scholarships to Gonzaga and Whitworth universities, as well as training and support to the scholars throughout their college careers.
Act Six is in its 11th year, starting at Whitworth and expanding to multiple universities around the Northwest.
The Whitworth Institute of Ministry will present its 38th annual program for pastors and their families July 8-12.
This year’s theme, “For Such a Time as This: Ancient Christian Wisdom for Postmodern Times,” will focus on current transitions in the life of the church, according to a press release.
The Whitworth Choir will tour Norway for two weeks, beginning May 20. The students will perform at Oslo Cathedral, Roros Church, Trondheim’s Our Lady’s Church, Egersund Church and the Stavanger Cathedral, which is the oldest cathedral in Norway, dating back to the 12th century.
