Every month on the Thursday following Coffee Talk, SpokaneFAVS hosts Pub Talk at a local bar and grille as a way to extend the conversation started at the Coffee Talk forum.

This is an informal discussion where FAVS readers and writers can dialogue about the month’s topic while tipping a pint, sharing a snack and having some laughs.

  1. The last Pub Talk was delightful. It continued and very much deepened the ideas that were initiated at the coffee talk, which had delt with religion and education. Coffee talk presentations begin to scratch the surface, and often get bogged down with tangential, though valuable, themes. Those who sat around the table at the pub had thought that the topic needed a closer look, for the problems with the ways we see the confluence of knowledge and reason, and faith and mystery had only been mentioned the week prior. We had a lively, two hour discussion. It happened in a private room, around a table where everyone could face and hear everyone else. The talk would not stop. New ideas, old ideas illuminated with new lights. Valuable, fun. I felt a commonality with the others, a sense that I can trust God and our society to keep the talk flowing. Thanks, Jan and all.
