Evangelicals urge Obama to take action on immigration reform

Members of The Evangelical Immigration Table say the current system doesn’t meet Christian standards and are calling for a six-point bipartisan solution that: • Respects the God-given dignity of every person • Guarantees secure national borders • Protects the unity of the immediate family • Ensures fairness to taxpayers and respects the rule of law • Establishes a path toward legal status and/or citizenship for those who qualify and who wish to become permanent residents.

This election dangerous questions arose about exploiting the poor, dehumanizing the alien

I waited for a week before writing anything on the election because I wanted to see how durable my first impressions of the outcome would be. My first impressions turned out to be pretty durable; I am still happy with the outcome for two reasons. First, it represents our best chance to plot a stable and moderate course toward reducing the deficit by sharing the burden across the entire spectrum of American people and not simply forcing the poor to pay for the whole thing.

Mitt Romney failed in his bid to win the White House back for Republicans, but the biggest losers in Tuesday’s voting may be Christian conservatives who put everything they had into denying President Obama a second term and battling other threats to their agenda. Instead of the promised victories, the religious right encountered defeat at almost every turn.

It’s not official yet, but with the looks of things there could be lots of wedding bells sounding on Dec. 9 — the day same-sex marriage certificates can formally be signed in Washington State.
