Members of three local Orthodox churches gathered at mile marker 16 on the Centennial Trail Sunday afternoon, looked toward the frigid waters and prayed for the Spokane River to, “be sanctified by the power and operation and descent of the holy spirit….”

I heard a knock at my door early one morning while I was reading my morning devotional. It was only 5 a.m., so I was pretty sure I’d heard the wind rattling or some sleepy child bumping around in bed upstairs.
