BRIEF: Sravasti Abbey to host open house
On June 16 Sravasti Abbey, the Buddhist monastery outside of Newport, will host an open house for visitors to tour the property and meet abbey residents.
The abbey's five ordained nuns, including Venerable Thubten Chodron, founder of the abbey, will be available to visit with guests during the event.

Sunday is Sharing the Dharma Day at Sravasti Abbey
Sravasti Abbey — the Tibetan Buddhist monastery near Newport — will open its doors on Sunday Sharing the Dharma Day.
The monthly event offers an opportunity to explore meditation, hear a talk drawn from Buddhist teachings, share a vegetarian potluck lunch and enrich the experience through facilitated small-group discussion, according to the abbey.
