Coffee and Contemplation continues at Immaculate Heart

Coffee and Contemplation, a monthly spiritual discussion and reflection time for people of all faiths began this week at Immaculate Heart Retreat Center and will continue through May.

The next discussion will be Oct. 17 with "Seeing the Holy in the Ordinary: Taking the Incarnation Seriously" presented by Kathy Finley.

Then, on Nov. 21 IHRC director Deacon John Ruscheinsky discusses covenant relationships and on Dec. 19 Sheryll Shepard from Hospice of Spokane will talk about "Seasons of Remembrance: Grieving the Holidays."

The series continues on Jan. 16 when Dr. Jim Shaw reflects on prayer and healing.

The Rev. Patrick Baraza gently placed the holy Quran on a carved wooden stand at Immaculate Heart Retreat Center, then turned to the small crowd and welcomed them to the center’s Day of Prayer. “Today we’re going to focus on another religion that’s maybe not your own,” he said.

Cupich to lead Advent Day of Prayer

CANCELLED: Immaculate Heart Retreat Center will be hosting an Advent Day of Prayer, "The Timeless and the Bread of Heaven" led by Bishop Blase Cupich, on Dec. 5. According to a press release, Cupich will lead participants in two conferences reflecting on the meaning of time, the beginning of the church year, for people who live with the timeless in their hearts and who feast on bread from heaven.
