BRIEF: Buddhist retreat focuses on facing death

From May 25-28 Sravasti Abbey will offer a retreat called "Precious Life, Facing Death." Venerable Tenzin Kacho, who has been a Tibetan nun for 25 years, will lead the class.

Buddhist meditation class series begins Oct. 1

Buddhist nuns from Sravasti Abbey will begin a 6-week meditation class series at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Spokane beginning Oct. 1. Classes will be Mondays through Nov. 5, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

BRIEF: Sravasti Abbey to host open house

On June 16 Sravasti Abbey, the Buddhist monastery outside of Newport, will host an open house for visitors to tour the property and meet abbey residents. The abbey's five ordained nuns, including Venerable Thubten Chodron, founder of the abbey, will be available to visit with guests during the event.
