TODAY: Justice for Trayvon Hoodie Rally

Today (Sunday) at 6 p.m. there will be a rally on Division and Ruby streets in response to the acquittal of George Zimmerman. On Saturday Zimmerman was found not guilty in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, a 17-year-old African-American high-schooler who was killed last year. Zimmerman was accused by many of being motivated by racism.

Libido high, libido low: a Christian perspective on unequal desire in the bedroom

It’s the blessed marriage where both partners have equal sexual expectations. They both desire to engage in sexual intimacy at the same frequency. However, I would venture to say that there are a higher number of marriages that have mismatched sexual frequency expectations or desire discrepancy.
This leads to one spouse being the lower drive and one spouse being the higher drive.

Thank you, Spokane, I will sing your praises

For those of you that may not have heard, I am no longer in Spokane. A career opportunity has taken me from my sunny west coast home in Washington to the equally sunny but much more humid eastern landscapes of Virginia.  For financial reasons I decided to make this move by car and view the country from the cracked windshield of my cross-over SUV.

New University Center reflects Gonzaga’s Jesuit mission

Two fireplaces will glow inside Gonzaga University’s new University Center, symbolizing the words of St. Ignatius of Loyola who once said, “Go forth and set the world on fire.”

The $60 million, 167,726 square-foot building, which is set to be completed in Fall 2015, will be an anchor for the university’s Jesuit mission, President Thayne McCulloh said Thursday evening at a groundbreaking ceremony.

Where’s the mission field?

I’d never witnessed a beating. To this day I shudder when I remember it. I had been reading in my car before a doctor’s appointment and happened to notice a young woman leaving the hospital.

Embodiment of self

I sat in front of a mirror last night. I stared at the folds in my skin without judgment, simply observing my body as if it were a work of art hanging in a museum. What does my stomach look like from this angle? What about my arms?
