Parting from the Four Attachments, by Sachen Kunga Nyingpo (1092-1158) contains the essence of the Mahayana doctrine:
If you have attachment to this life, you are not a religious person.
If you have attachment to the round of rebirth, you have no renunciation.
If you have attachment to your own interests, you haven't the resolve to attain
enlightenment.
If grasping ensues, you do not have the true view.
Sravasti Abbey is very fortunate to host H.E. Dagmo Kusho from Sakya Monastery for teachings on these verses, bodhicitta, and White Tara practices and initiation.
Born in Tibet, Dagmo Kusho fled to India with her family in 1959. The family moved to the United States in 1960 when her husband, H.H. Dagchen Rinpoche, and uncle, Ven. Dezhung Rinpoche, were invited to the University of Washington under a Rockefeller Foundation grant. Dagmo Kusho regularly bestows empowerments and teaches at Sakya Monastery. She has also founded the Mother Tara Center/Tara Ling in San Gabriel, California and established centers in Kona, Hawaii; Flagstaff, Arizona; and Mexico City.
