Pulling the curtain on mammon

Pounding the philosophies, practices and faith of mammon, as I have in recent posts, can fall into two traps. First, pointing out the dangers of the worship of mammon is directed to Christians. If one chooses to follow mammon like Ayn Rand and her followers, they should be free to do so. We Christians can point to the final road in which a life dedicated to mammon warps the soul. All I am echoing is Jesus’ words. You can serve God or money, but not both.

Second, my pounding on mammon could be interpreted as a political statement. Below are two powerful videos echoing my pounding of mammon by John Piper the late Chuck Colson. Christians should be careful about the love of money and the Gospel of Prosperity. This is not about who Christians should vote for, but a call to serve God and not mammon.

  1. Money….well, with a daughter getting married, the economy in the tank and the subsequent drop in giving towards churches and the $1300 tax bill from the “Make a Change” Obama government….I’m pretty nauseous over the matter.

  2. Eric,

Sounds like a mix of problems that the love of money could not solve. You know the secret to have a little and to have a lot. It shows in your posts and in your fruit of your life. Money comes and goes (mostly goes as you know) but God is forever.
