Recently on the NBC show "Parenthood" they had a story line regarding faith issues and raising children. I think they did an excellent job dealing with a subject matter that is usually avoided or dealt with in an antagonistic or derogatory manner.
Here's a clip from the episode
Here are some of the questions and situations addressed in the episode:
- What faith knowledge and experiences do we pass to our children, if each parent comes from a different faith or lack of faith background?
- How do you navigate our parents and their desire to share, impart or influence your kids?
-
What 'big questions' do parents have a responsibility to address when raising children?
- If God is love, is a loving home a 'godly' home?
I really love Parenthood and think its one of the few shows that blends good story telling, real life matters, great acting and humor into a show that often truly moves me and makes me think. That's good entertainment in my opinion. Check it out, especially if your are in the family season of life.
What challenges or opportunities have you experienced in regard to these issues?

It seems this show has given families lots to think about. Thank goodness I only have dogs, so don’t have to worry about these issues ;)
