Spokane singer: cool, creative chords and commitment

Chelsey Heidenreich may only be 18 years old, but her indie folk style portrays depth and maturity beyond her years.  I always appreciate a combination of upbeat rhythm and lyrical depth, and Heidenreich creates that charm.  She grew up nearby, in Ritzville, where the sun shines even when black wintry clouds hang over Spokane.  Maybe that’s why her music comes out positive and bright.  Her guitar is cool and creative and her voice confident as she contemplates love and commitment.

The title track to her album, Too Many Things, starts out energetic, rejoicing even through the struggles of relationship.  “Not Go Away” lifts up commitment through the difficult times, and in “I’ll be There” she sings “Oh yeah it’s cold outside, but I’ll be there at two AM.”  There are deeper undercurrents in “Addictions,” where she ruminates on the destructive power of addictions on those who are left behind.  “Look at You” builds encouragement, “Stronger” shows how the power of friendship has made her who she is today, and “Life Journies” talks about her own edification to a nice blend of guitar and keyboards.

You can check out Heidenreich's music for yourself at her website, Chelsey Heidenreich, listen to her radio interview on 107.1 KZME, or catch her live at Carr’s Corner (just see the schedule on her website).   Even better, download the single, “Through Not Yet Passed,” just recently released.
